Pense por si.

think for yourself

Sapere Aude is a space where one speaks, writes, and discusses using only facts, with freedom of thought as the limiting markers.

In this space you will find a different analysis matrix, without fuss, half-expressions, supported only by lived and thought experience, with direct knowledge and without commitments to those who provide the information, without constraint or conditioning because we are the ones who have the information and are willing to offer it.

In this space you can discover and understand the hidden side of phrases offered by a ‘commentator’ who heard it from a source and a place they cannot name.

We will always denounce the ‘false prophet’, the ‘pseudo-scientist’, the ‘illusion of explanatory depth’, the ‘stress-ridden media practices’, the ‘identity protection cognition’, the ‘spasms of irrationality’, and we will fiercely fight ignorance and injustice, both fed by the ‘tragedy of common beliefs’.

Yes, we present ourselves as constructive critical watchdogs, in adversarial cooperation, subjecting everything and everyone to the demanding scientific test of conjecture and refutation.

Here, in this space, the sources are public and those who wish otherwise have no place among those whose sole objective is to share knowledge, in order to provide those who see and hear us with true tools capable of helping in the construction of an informed critical spirit.

Sapere Aude is beholden to no one: it owes no chairs in television spaces, no favours, no loyalty to ignorance.

‘Loyalty is like the fragile flame of a small candle, constantly threatened by the strong winds of fear and interest.’

Interest: think, question, and share. Fear: devoured by the courage we have to think, question, and share!

We are loyal to the Truth, to intellectual honesty.

Join us. Question with us. Help to share.

Sapere Aude is a public virtual forum for discussion

and pursuit of Knowledge.

Everyone can participate. All voices are important,

even the discordant ones.

Think of this space as a vast forest in which there are numerous clearings in which you can stay for a while or which you can leave.

There is a Lord of the Forest, of course, but he will only intervene if you happen to bring and leave your garbage unattended, or if you are careless with the bonfires you light.

‘Enlightenment is man's escape from his self-incurred minority. Minority is the inability to make use of his understanding without the guidance of another. Such minority is his own fault, if its cause lies not in the lack of understanding, but in the lack of decision and courage in acting for himself without the guidance of another.

Sapere aude! Have the courage to use your own understanding. Here is the watchword of Enlightenment.’

(Imannuel Kant)

In 1784, five years before the French Revolution, the German philosopher Immanuel Kant, published a booklet he titled ‘What is Enlightenment?’, in the original: ‘Was ist Aufklarung?’

Immanuel Kant offered us his vision of what Enlightenment is, pointing out that Man's ability to make use of his Reason (his own, not the one he is offered, sold, or forced to accept) was an essential condition to ‘emerge from his self-incurred minority.’

He himself decides who to believe, what to believe, what he wants to see and hear. The responsibility is ours, our own.

Today, 239 years later, it is more important than ever to encourage our fellow citizens and ourselves to dare to think: Sapere Aude!

The current dominant culture - the ‘kulturindustrie’, as Adorno defined it - by taking advantage of the intellectual complacency of the common citizen, which all drink from the same fetid institutional sources, and of their unconditional acceptance of the message that is transmitted and repeated in loop by the media, is an instrument that serves those who wish to maintain the status quo, that is, the elusive sense of happiness and the easy pleasure of the obedient brainless voting citizen.

What they offer, disguised as Truth, is not the factual Truth. Popper warned us: ‘Can we change the Truth?’ Answer: ‘Of course we can, as long as it ceases to be!’

But how can we identify the truth of the facts when those with the noble job of spreading it are held hostage by corporate, institutional, and even personal interests? Or how can we identify the truth when those who see and hear do not question?

‘Introduction to Clarity’ is indispensable! Dare to think! Don't accept the package! Ask the question: who profits? Cuo bono?

Learning self-observation is part of learning Clarity (‘Reforming Thought’, Edgar Morin).
